Troon Harrison’s thirty-six books are published in seven languages, including ones she cannot read such as Arabic, Norwegian, and Portuguese!
Her work has been animated for YTV, and translated into Braille. She enjoys the challenge of writing for different age groups, and has success with picture books, junior chapter books, and YA novels.
Writing in a variety of genres (contemporary, historical, fantasy, and science fiction), as well as writing nonfiction, stimulates Troon’s writing life.
Troon shares her creativity through workshops for all ages, and has taught at ICL since 1997, mentoring many wonderful students. Thanks to the Internet, she works as a freelance editor and a ghostwriter for clients worldwide.
Troon’s books have been honored with many distinctions including shortlists for the Manitoba Young Readers Choice Award 2015 (for Red River Stallion), and the Panda Award 2013 in China (for The Horse Road). A translation of her picture book, Frost Flyer, won the Youth Jury Prize 2014 in Austria.
Reviewers describe her books as haunting, vibrant, and difficult to put down. With degrees in Sociology and English Literature, and a Bachelor of Education, Troon enjoys life-long learning.
